Life really puzzles me. How did people like Beethoven, van Gogh, Orson Wells and Benjamin Franklin leave their marks in time? More importantly, how do I leave my mark? My fortune cookie today said, “You only live once but if you do it right, once is enough” What does that mean? At nearly 27 years old, I am becoming more aware of my inevitable demise. I hope there is an after-life but like all of you, I have seen no evidence of this. Moreover, even if I had, I have seen no instructions on how to be included in it. The Bible? Interpretation of God’s will, written by mortals not unlike you and I, in a time of severe lack of progression as a species. I want to believe in all of these things, because they promise me eternal life, and after all, who wouldn’t want that? But one thing that I have learned of life so far is that by creating high expectations, we are also setting ourselves up for a greater fall to disapointment. Don’t get me wrong. Im not going to sit around and look for some purpose for our existence on this spinning ball of dirt. However, I just feel like if I can leave something that touches people in a timeless manner, artistically perhaps, then even if I cant be here to enjoy it, I can die knowing that Ive done my part to progress mankind. If we are indeed created in His image, wouldn’t He greatly appreciate our own promotion of humans towards the achievement of the potential He gave us? Yep. I think so too.

Here are some new haikus (haiki?) Enjoy!

When pressed together
Our hearts, pounding frenziedly
Pretend to be one

Gazing at closed eyes
I swiftly shift to catch you
Falling out of sleep

Sleeping without you
Is much like sleeping with you
Except for the sleep
Happy birthday, Andrea.

Awww... yeah. Here is the rizzle dizzle - the jalapeno chip that your tongue probably asks for by name - Bobs Texas Style jalapeno chips. Delicious!

When you think of Jalapeno potato chips, do you think of Washington State? Who in Texas would? I think maybe someone missed the mark on this one.

Dear Senator Hutchison:
I am concerned with any unneccessary legislation but especially that regarding gay rights. First, as a heterosexual man, I would oppose any legislation that prohibited my behaviors behind closed doors. After all, why should the government be so concerned with this to amend the Constitution? Unions - marriages in most cases - between two people, as you are aware, binding contracts not unlike those you may find in the business world. If two parties wish to enter into such an agreement, why should we be so opposed to it just because both happen to be the same sex? Imagine for a moment a hard working homosexual couple who have been together for years and have adopted a child. One acts as the stay-at-home parent and the other maintains a job as the only source of income for the three. It is unjust for them not to be recognized as a family, as their lifestyle is very functional and not at all impractical. More importantly though, this sets a precedent that would exclude the significant other and child from the breadwinner's health insurance policy. This would force them to either pay out of pocket or more realistically, use the emergency room at your local hospital for primary care, overworking resources and wasting money. Health care, along with this country's lack of a responsible energy plan are the most severe issues and probably should be dealt with instead of creating legislation that strips rights from Amercians. I think most Americans are very driven and headstrong and will do what they believe is right regardless of any law. And I guess thats where I am confused about the purpose of banning same-sex unions. Obviously I understand that we have laws to punish those who choose to act imorrally and irresponsibly but is being homosexual either of these? If we believe so then does that mean we must make it illegal? If so then what would be the penalty for this "crime?" If our goal is to illegitimize these unions are we ignorant enough to believe they will cease to exist? As we have seen in the past, it is dangerous to condemn those who are different than the majority whether that basis is color of skin, religous belief or sexual preference. This leglislation is a huge mistake and I'll have no part in it.

Authority Zero show at Fitzgerald's 6/4/06

This was a really nice show.

"Over Seasons"

Over seasons, like so many times before
You drop drop drop it 'til you break down the walls
Over seasons, when you come disobey
Just keep on droppin' 'til the break of the day
Over seasons, like so many times before
You drop drop drop it till you break down the walls
Over seasons, when you come not obey
Just keep drop drop drop drop:
Back in 1994 there was no reason that we had wanted to play
But a vision of expression
An ability to reason with the worries in our lives
An ability we'd recognized
How many times, would composition turn into confession?
Building a foundation for our youth to grow into progression
Making our days, free-will reside, we say!
Now you know things ain't right
And the pressure that you're granted from this life
And forever you had wondered what's in store
'Til you stand up and not take it anymore!
Doubted about the things you do
And defiant of your scattered mental institute
No second guessing when it's already past
Denying that it wouldn't last
Here's to the days, here's to the nights
Throughout the years, how many fights? Here's to the daze that paved the way! We say!
Now you know things ain't right
And the pressure that you're granted from this life
And forever you had wondered what's in store
That's when you stand up and not take it anymore!
Like we'd done before!
The seize of day, turned on into night!
And open wide!
